Fitness Challenge Results - Temecula Personal Training and Trainer to You

Let me first say congratulations to all of you that participated in the Healthy Times newspaper 6 Week Fitness Challenge. You all did an outstanding job with a collective weight loss of over 150 pounds.

21 clients entered, 11 completed the challenge and 10 actually got their forms to me in time to be submitted. Unfortunately for entry #11, if she had completed the forms in time, would probably have been in the winners circle(but rules are rules and I didn't make them - more on this in another post).

Below are the winners and the prizes given by "trainer to you". Over the next couple of days I will create a post on each of the winners with their photos and stories. These are the winners as reported in the Healthy Times newspaper;

Women's Winner: Debbie Clark
Total weight loss 16 pounds!

  • 1 Month of AquaFIT personal training
  • 1 Month of T2U branded weight loss supplements
  • 1 T2U branded fitness journal
  • 1 @ Home massage by Carol Cunefare

Inspirational Winner: Patricia Manley
Total weight loss 12 pounds!
  • 1 Month of AquaFIT personal training
  • 1 Month of T2U branded weight loss supplements
  • 1 @ Home massage by Carol Cunefare

Inspirational Winner: Sonnie Straw
Total weight loss 7 pounds!
  • 1 Month of AquaFIT personal training
  • 1 Month of T2U branded weight loss supplements

Runner Up Winner: Ashley Vanover
Total weight loss 9 pounds!
  • 1 Month of LunchCRUNCH personal training
  • 1 Month of T2U branded weight loss supplements

Now, you may notice that one of the "Inspirational Winners" gets a massage when the others didn't - but I will explain in more detail later. But for now, congratulations to all of you, and keep up the good work.

The challenge may be over - but you still have goals in front of you, remember, there is no finish line!

Those are great results - I entered but never finished the contest. What I did get out of it was the motivation to continue the challenge on my own and have now lost 20lbs. to date. Thank you to Mark for pushing me into this.

I'm a bit confused on the results, the Womens runner up winner did not lose as much as weight as Patricia, I compared it to the Newspaper results. Is there a mistake in your numbers?

First off....Congratulations to all who entered and completed the challenge, irrespective of the results, we all made a commitment and are all winners.

I think that on behalf of all T2Y clients, I can say a big Thank You to Mark and Teri for being awesome trainers, for keeping us all motivated and encouraging us all to lead healthier lifestyles....so, Thank You guys, you are GREAT !

With regard to the way Healthy Times ran this Challenge, I am disappointed because they appeared to change the rules well into the competition. Also, having re-read the FACs on their website...there didn't seem to be any specific criteria, other than that their panel of judges would make the final decision and that it would be based on the forms submitted. It did not specify if it was based on weight loss, measurements, fat loss, gained muscle mass etc. So, exactly how were the winners determined ? They certainly had us all complete the forms, have measurements and photo's taken before and after, and then answer some questions about the challenge experience. I guess it would have been nice to know up front more specific criteria. I haven't looked at the latest issue yet, but I will be.

In addition, I felt that we did not receive the 'weekly motivational emails', at least mine were sporadic, and I don't recall ever receiving the e-journal we were promised...maybe I missed an email or something.

Lesson learned....read the fine print before you sign up for something with no specific criteria.

Bottom line....Congratulations to all the Winners, whether you received prizes or not.

Thank you Trainer2You for all your positive support in this challenge, Mark, my trainer, and Teri. Hooray!, for all the winners and all who participated in this challenge even from elsewhere. It was indeed life changing if you wanted it to be.

As a contestant in the Healthy Times Challenge my concerns are now many. The rules were changed along the way, was the judging fair, weekly motivational emails and other little items promised and NEVER received, and waiting 2 months to receive their prizes. I have received nothing but 2 phone calls.

Also, I have not seen the paper yet but have heard the inspirational stories were not told, so what was the point? I wrote to inspire others, not myself, as I was already inspired to do this in the first place.

Again, congratulations to all! We were all winners for taking this journey, as that was the most courageous starting point.

Thanks a Million Trainer2You for helping to create winners in us all!

Yes, congrats to all the winners and to those who also participated in the challenge. I'm sure we all learned a lot about ourselves both physically and mentally. Also congrats go to Mark Severn my trainer who also took the challenge and did very well and also learned a lot himself. Ask him about it. Six weeks was a great amount of time to reassess my fitness and nutritional goals, but i think the challenge should be made longer, possibly 10 weeks, to get the benefits of seeing some real physical changes. In six weeks some people are just getting started and for me a great motivator has always been seeing the results in the mirror and getting comments form others rather than the numbers on the scale which really is not a good measurment of your fitness level.
Which brings me to my comment about the way the fitness challenge was judged. It think that body measurments and body fat composition should have been used to measure participants results. Again the scale is not a very good tool to use to measure fitness levels since we all know or should know that muscle weighs more than fat. The criteria about the contest should have been clearly stated and clearly judged by the judges whoever that person was or group of people were. I think this should have been a great opportunity to educate participants on how the body really works when it is pushed both physically and mentally.
I hope all who participated are continuting to make good choices concerning their fitness and nutritional goals because it really never ends. It just gets better! Right Mark?

WOW - some great questions, a lot of which I have incomplete information to answer.

remember - T2U got involved in the challenge mainly for all of you - to give you a kick in the ass to get going - and on that note I think we were successful.

I agree with a lot of the comments about transparency - but the results are the results. I will post each of the winners numbers and stories over the next several posts - and then a couple of the folks that did not win - there are many inspirational stories to share, but thought it best to let Healthy Times newspaper complete their contest first.

Keep letting me know what you think overall of the contest - Your comments will help us guide you in the right direction next year - or the next time that a contest is presented to you.

Bottom line, our goal is your goal!

Just wanted to also congratulate everyone who participated in the challenge! For me personally, it was definitely the kick in the but I needed. I did like the way the journal was designed and it proved to me a helpful tool in monitoring my progress. I agree that the rules/prize determinations was vague but I went in with the attitude of accomplishing this for myself and succeeding was my prize. Maybe next challenge the rules, etc will be more clearly stated.

Also, a big thank you to Mark! I was determined to do this on my own and he was so great with advice for my exercise, routine, calories, and support!

Congrats all!!!! Great job!!!

Again great job to all!! We did do this for ourselves, I agree.

My prizes arrived yesterday with postage due....LOL.

Hopefully they will be more organized next year.

"prizes arrived yesterday with postage due" were the prizes from the HT Challenge.

T2U - has already delivered, in person, the prizes that we awarded.

Had to enter that if there was any confusion - M7
